There are many reasons why your laptop may have died, but don’t worry, we have put together a list of the solutions for the most common problems:
Problem #1: Static charge build up.
Solution: This is the most common problem. Disconnect the laptop, take the battery out from the adapter first, and then press the power button for at least a minute, then, plug in the AC power. Leave the battery out at this point. Press the power button. Done!
Problem #2: Drained Battery.
Solution: The only time a laptop will not turn on is in combination with a faulty charger. If the AC adapter is OK, a dead battery would not stop the laptop from powering up.
Problem #3: Faulty AC adapter.
Solution: You should always check your AC adapter with a multimeter. You can check to see if the output voltage is as mentioned on the adapter.
Problem #4: Bad RAM module.
Solution: Sometimes, if the RAM is not positioned in the slot correctly, this might cause the laptop not to turn on. You can take out the RAM module and plug in the power adapter. If the lights come on when you press the power button, then there is a problem with your RAM, meaning that you most probably have a ‘short circuit’ in the module.
